Frequently asked questions about Simplant Planning Service

  • Simplant Planning Service is accessible through PC, Apple, iPad and iPhone. The major internet browsers are supported (Internet Explorer 11, Firefox, Chrome and Safari).

  • When all case data are available to Dentsply Sirona, the planning proposal will be ready for review in the next 3 working days. Each planning proposal and guide design has to be reviewed and can be modified in Simplant Editor before the surgical guide is manufactured at Dentsply Sirona.

  • After approval of a Simplant plan, the Simplant Guide is manufactured and shipped in 48 hours. When you made changes to the Simplant plan, Dentsply Sirona will first verify that the Simplant Guide design is still possible for the changed Simplant plan. If the Simplant Guide design is no longer possible, Dentsply Sirona creates a revised planning proposal for which Guide design is possible again. This revised proposal is posted to your Simplant account for a final review and approval. This situation occurs for example when an implant is planned too close to a neighboring tooth. The revised plan should be reviewed and can be modified again by the clinician if needed. The Simplant Guide is then manufactured and shipped 48 hours after approval of the revised Simplant plan. In rare situations, it may occur that Simplant Guide design is not possible again after receiving the second revised plan. A Dentsply Sirona representative will then contact the customer to find a solution together with the clinician.

  • When implants are requested at locations with low bone volume, the (CB)CT scan images will be posted to your Simplant account for review. Review the 2D images with Simplant Editor and make measurements to evaluate the bone width and height. After review, you can either:

    1. Cancel the case. No case cost will be invoiced.

Choose this option if there is not enough bone to proceed with the case in a guided surgery manner.

    2. Proceed the case

Choose this option if you want to proceed with the case in a guided surgery manner. Only after your confirmation to proceed, Dentsply Sirona will generate the 3D images of the case with planning proposal and guide design.

  • A case can be cancelled by contacting Simplant Technical support. If the case is cancelled after an implant planning was made, a case cost will be invoiced.

If there is no sufficient bone to place implants the case can be cancelled without extra cost.
